Sean Emmett praises race bike

Oxford (15.04.09) Visitors to the opening round of the 2009 British Superbike Championship (BSB) this Bank Holiday Monday were treated to the sight of the first Henderson Harley-Davidson XR1200® Trophy race bike on track – with BSB bad boy Sean Emmett at the helm.

The event had promised to be historic in that it would be the first event for 20 years that Emmett was not due to race in. However, the Hertfordshire rider chose to take to the track between the two Superbike races as part of a new BSB Legends display in association with Harley-Davidson UK.

He returned with a grin on his face saying, “the bike’s actually really good – better than I expected – for its first run. The handling was really smooth and the suspension is great. It was a little heavier than I’m used to through the chicane, but it flows smoothly through single bends. Once I’d adjusted to the riding style, I was really starting to enjoy it.”

The regular feature that will run throughout the 2009 BSB calendar is set to acknowledge the past masters of the championship and to utilise their expertise in helping to develop the machine for the 2010 UK race series.

It is the first motorcycle for the 2010 Henderson Harley-Davidson XR1200® Trophy race series that will be officially launched in September following an international XR1200 race at the Northants circuit. The ongoing development plan in association with respected UK journalists, BSB past masters and well-known motorcycling celebrities will continue until the Silverstone BSB event.
