Black Bear goes racing

Oxford (03.03.10) A local motorcycle dealership is swapping the road for the race track this summer, by competing in an exciting new one-make racing series – the Harley-Davidson® XR1200® Trophy. Black Bear Harley-Davidson recently put the finishing touches to its specially-prepared Black Bear Racing Harley-Davidson® XR1200® motorcycle, in plenty of time for the start of the season, which kicks off on 1-3 May.

The XR1200 Trophy race series, which is officially supported by Harley-Davidson UK and Ireland, is designed to attract a varied mix of Clubman, Superbike and Superstock contenders as well as younger stars looking to develop their racing skills. Newmarket-based Black Bear Harley-Davidson is so far one of 20 entrants into the series, which includes several other authorised Harley-Davidson dealerships and individual competitors.

Warren Scott said ‘The big V twin really suits my style of riding, this is going to be very competitive, but I feel with the experience of one make series I have and the enthusiasm from Black Bear I feel we are well placed for a good result’

“The Harley-Davidson XR1200 is a fantastic bike to ride on our roads,” says Black Bear Harley-Davidson owner Nigel Darken. “It has been developed with European roads in mind, so it is sympathetic to our style of twists and corners. However, we can’t wait to take the Black Bear Racing XR1200 out on track. With a long racing heritage, I’m sure it is really going to surprise a lot of people.”

The Harley-Davidson XR1200 Trophy events will be shown live on British Eurosport.
